Park has solved the problem that afflicts all the other utility knives I've ever owned over the years, and that is blade wiggle. Other utility knifes have a slide mechanism to protect the blade when not in use, but it allows the blade to slop around in the handle while you're trying to make a cut, allowing the blade to change angle in mid use.
Here the blade is sandwiched between two nice thick pieces of metal, once you fold this baby out and lock it in place you've got half the length of the utility blade to work with that is held rock steady. If you need to hack away at some trapped debris hold it by the blue handle and have at it. If you need to do fine carving on a brake block choke up on to the generous silver holder and carve with precision before unknown. Of course the up side is also the down side, once you flip this baby open that's a half blade exposed, and if new it's sharp as a razor, no holds barred. Be dang sure to close it when not in use.
BTW, when they say excellent construction, they mean it, thick side plates, huge lock spring, heavy duty hinge pin. Heck even the belt clip has not two but three pins holding it in place. This thing will surely out live me and all for the price you would pay for a standard utility knife, a true five star tool.
